My sister Keri, and older brother Craig, pose below Commonwealth Peak. This was the view not far from where we left the bikes behind. This was Craig's first scramble and I thought he did quite well on the steep, loose terrain. We took an alternate way up, but the popular route down. This shows the angle we had to deal with. Cegnfs and Mount Murray are in the distance.Eon Mountain and Mount Assiniboine are the highest peaks in this view near the summit. Too bad about the smoke, but the temperature was amazing!Mount Sir Douglas is one of my favorite peaks in Kananaskis. Here is the view from the summit looking back along the ridge.Mount Birdwood looks huge from this aspect. We left most of the crowds behind at Burstall Pass and only saw four others on the mountain.Keri and Craig did great on this 20 km trip!Mount Smuts is the dominant peak on the right with the small brownish ridge to its left being what I call "Sepia Ridge." The view from this small ridge is an all time favorite of mine.Craig darts ahead of us, as I take time to soak in the views.Another look at Mount Smuts.Craig returns to Burstall pass with Snow Peak in the background. We ascended the grassy slopes in the middle and came down the ridge on the right.Mount Birdwood is starting to look great in the afternoon light. One last look at Sir Douglas before we drop back into the forest. The larches are not nearly as dense here as they were at Sunshine Meadows the day before. The long valley back to the parking lot.
